9-3-53A warning article is placed in the Mantua Record on yielding to the right of way of fire trucks on emergency calls and also on the dangers of calling in false alarms on the fire phone.
9-10-53A new resuscitator is placed in-service with funds from the county civil defense budget. The new unit replaced the original pulmotor that had been in use since the early 1930's.

6-8-78Squad 109 assisted Community EMS with a two car rollover crash at 5700 SR 82. Two victims suffered serious injuries.
6-8-78There were two mva's and two fire calls in 22 hours, 0051-2118 hours.
6-9-78Utility 110 responds to Nelson Ledges State Park to assist the Garrettsville FD with rescuing two adult males who fell off of a cliff and a Garrettsville fireman who fell during the rescue attempt. 110 supplied a stokes, rope and manpower for the rescue operation. All three males were admitted to R.M.H. in guarded condition.

5-7-78A motorbike crash on Orchard Street sends an adult male to the hospital.

4-6-03Sparks from a passing locomotive set the roofs of four structures on fire in the area of the Erie Railroad crossing at 10600 Main Street. All four structures are saved. This is the first known working fire for the new hose carts.
75 Years Ago: April-1928
4-18-28A fire at the W.L. Rose residence results in a $50.00 loss due to hot ashes placed next to the to the structure. Six firemen handled the incident.
4-28-28A fire at the Frank Smith residence results in a $80.00 Loss, no cause given. Eight firemen handled the incident.
50 Years Ago: April-1953
4-9-53A fire at the Tinker residence on Townline Road results in a $600.00 loss due to an oil stove that exploded.

4-1-78A car vs car crash with trauma and a gas leak at SR 44 & SR 82 results in two adult males being transported to R.M.H. by Community EMS with lacerations, fractures and an avulsion.
4-2-78A nine year old female is transported to R.M.H. by Community EMS with lacerations and a fracture after being kicked by a horse at 11009 SR 44.
4-8-78A wind driven brush fire along the Conrail tracks requires 2,000 gallons of water, 13 fire fighters and three hours to extinguish. Caused by sparks from a passing train.
4-8-78There are five grass fire calls in three hours, 17:05-20:10 hours.
4-16-78A gas leak at Wentworth & Clermont Streets has seven firefighters standing by for over two hours with East Ohio Gas.
4-16-78A brush and rubbish fire requires 1,000 gallons of water, 16 firefighters and over an hour to extinguish at 13056 Chamberlain Road. A unattended burn pile was the cause.
4-17-78A semi-truck vs pick-up crash with trauma at 3122 SR 82 sends an adult female to RMH with laacerations and fractures.
4-17-78A car vs truck crash with trauma at 3560 Mennonite Road sends two adult females to RMH with lacerations and concussions.

4-18-78A garage fire at the Sidoti residence at 3919 Shadynook Drive causes a $700.00 loss and required 2,500 gallons of water, 11 firefighters and over one hour to extinguish. A leaf fire was the cause.
4-24-78A trailer fire at the Moore residence at 3218 SR 82, Lot 154 results in a $15,000 total loss which required 4,000 gallons of water, 14 firefighters and three hours to extinguish. The cause was a cigarette in a couch.
4-26-78A car vs tree crash with major trauma at 12721 SR 44 sends an adult male to RMH with multiple fractures, lacerations and a concussion.
4-26-78A car vs bike crash with trauma at Franklin & Elm Streets sends a juvenile male to RMH for treatment.
4-27-78A car vs cycle crash with major trauma at 4201 SR 82 sends a juvenile male to RMH with multiple fractures head injuries and lacerations.

25 Years ago: March 1978
3-5-78A fire at the Jones/Plesmid apartment results in a $6,000 loss at 10807 Park street. 750 gallons of water were used along with 19 firefighters, two hour call, 600 feet of hose used, started by a child.
3-15-78A new 1978 1500/1000 Seagrave pumper is placed in-service at a cost of $90,000.00 with the designation of 103.
3-15-78A house fire at the Hauck residence at 12754 Samuel Drive results in a $1,200 loss. It took 12 firefighters one hour to extinguish, defective stove was the cause.
3-17-78An mva with trauma at 5700 SR 303 in Freedom Township (car vs. car head-on) results in two adults (Simera-32 & Petroski-17) and a child (Simera-4) being admitted at RMH for lacerations and fractures, Shorts Ambulance transported, 10 firefighters, one hour call.
3-26-78 to 3-28-78:There are 5 fire calls and two EMS calls in two days.
3-28-78A fire at Turnpike Auto Parts at 3745 SR 303 (junk cars) requires 11 firefighters using 800 gallons of water 1 ½ hours to extinguish, cutting torch was the cause, 200 feet of hose used.
3-28-78A fire in a bedroom at the Stoots residence at 4777 High Street results in a $1,000 loss. 17 firefighters, 1 ½ hours, 400 feet of 1 ½”hose, child with matches. This was the first working fire for the Seagrave (103) pumper.
3-29-78An mva (van vs garbage truck-rear end) with trauma and a gas leak at 12171 SR 44 results in an adult male (Ciani-18) being admitted to RMH in serious condition with lacerations and fractures, 10 firefighters, one hour call.

3-4-93“A” Shift responds to 6 EMS and 1 fire call in 6 hours.
3-9-93Fatal mva (car vs. tree) at 4100 SR 303 with extrication claims the life of an adult female (Cunningham-31). One other adult female was taken to RMH.
3-9-93“C” Shift responds to 5 EMS calls in 6 hours.
3-10-93“A” Shift responds to 6 EMS calls in 22 hours.
3-13-93A full arrest at 9772 Diagonal Road, Brunk-14.
3-13-93Assist the R.C.F.D. with a house fire at 3407 SR 59 that claimed the lives of a two and four year old (Krzystan). 108 and 105 responded.
3-14-93Assist the Aurora FD with a structure fire at the Aurora House Spa & Hotel At 34 North Chillicothe Road. 103 responded, $1,000 loss.
3-13/14-93A late winter storm drops 10” of snow in less than 48 hours.
3-17-93Assist the Streetsboro F.D. with a house fire (Tratnik) at 9845 Page Rd, $50,000 loss, 103 responded.
3-25-93A trailer fire at the Wilson/Smallwood residence at 3218 SR 82, Lot 161, results in a $25,000 loss. A dog and two cats were killed. Aurora F.D. assisted with an engine.
3-25-93An mva (3 car) with extrication and major trauma at 11915 SR 44 sent 2 people (Auber & Stadtler) to the hospital.
3-28-93A vacant cabin is destroyed by fire at 11601 River Beach Drive (Evans) no value, dilapidated.
